With a hundred and fifty years of history in its heart, this eco-stay is a brick and mortar version of a “Living Legend”. It boasts of playing host to Swami Vivekananda and Shri Aurobindo and offering them a peaceful atmosphere they needed for their meditation. The homestay is an interior-lover’s dream come true. The décor has been painstakingly put together by the owner personally. The sharp eye to details is visible in all forms be it the furniture, draperies, washrooms or bed linen.

The highlight of the house is the collection of “Likhai” work. In the Kumaon region, “Likhai” is a traditional method of carving wood. When the dwellers of the region started discarding their carved wooden doors and windows in favor of modern options, the owner decided to collect them for posterity thereby preserving an important piece of our rich tradition. Had it not been for her efforts, we would have surely lost important evidence of our traditional design methods. The stay claims to have the largest collection of “Likhai” work found anywhere.
