Jageshwar, Uttarakhand
Jageshwar is a small pilgrimage town that is protected by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). This town also has the 8th Jyotirlinga among the 12 that are found in India.
The Jageshwar Shiv temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in India. The original language spoken in Jageshwar Uttarakhand is Kumaoni. The entire cluster of Jageshwar village has over 200 temple structures built from cut stone.
The months of July and August see the people of Jageshwar celebrating the Jageshwar monsoon festival. Visiting the town during this time is an experience in itself.
